For over 30 years, the Women's Rape Crisis Center has offered workshops and presentations to schools in Chittenden County. Last year we presented over 146 workshops, reaching over 1,900 middle school and high school students. By inviting us into your school, you can help us continue to reach youth in Chittenden on important and relevant issues such as sexual violence, dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and bullying.
Last year the Women's Rape Crisis Center received exceptional feedback from teachers who invited us in to their classrooms during the 2005-2006 school year:
"Very good presentation, clear, easy to understand, appropriate for age group." -Colchester HS teacher
"I'm confident ALL students left class much more aware of how to prevent sexual violence." -Champlain Valley Union HS teacher
"Presentations are interactive and will hold the attention of ALL students. The presentation is an excellent service for high school kids...I thought this presentation was through and well done." -Winooski HS teacher
"Over my 28 years of teaching health, I've hosted many speakers and presentations, and this was EXCELLENT!" -Champlain Valley Union HS teacher
We can tailor presentations to meet your needs and the needs of your students. The Women's Rape Crisis Center strongly believes that raising awareness about violence and its alternatives are essential to the health and strength of our young people. Together, we can break the cycle of violence on our streets, in our schools, and in our homes. Please feel free to contact our Director of Education and Outreach with any questions you may have, at jeanne@stoprapevermont.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
