Opportunities and Commitments

The following are descriptions of the Women's Rape Crisis Center's available volunteer positions, qualifications, and commitments

Hotline Volunteers, Interns, and Work-study

Duties: Must commit to signing up for 1 hotline shift a week or its equivalent (shifts are 9am-5pm and 5pm-9am weekdays). Volunteers answer the hotline from their home and give emotional support, options, and resources to survivors and their loved ones. Volunteers must attend monthly Hotline Volunteers meeting.

Social Change Volunteers, Interns, and Work-study

Duties: Volunteers help staff tabling events, help with set up and take down for events, and help present educational workshops. Must commit to helping at one event, workshop, or tabling event a month. Volunteers must attend monthly Social Change Committee meeting.

Board of Directors

Duties: Board members contribute to agency or help fundraise and cultivate donors for agency. Board members must commit to attending monthly Board of Directors meetings and WRCC functions and events.

One-time Event Help, Office Help

Duties: Mardi Gras parade route volunteer, phone solicitation of donations, filing, shredding, hanging flyers, helping with thank you notes and mailings, and other office tasks. Volunteers must be 16 years of age; must be on time, responsible, and appropriate.
