Sexual Violence Awareness Month 2008: 30 years of Taking Back the Night

April 2008 came and went, and another Sexual Violence Awareness Month (SVAM) with it. As always, the months of preparation that go into this month-long pot-luck of awareness-raising events -- a conference, art displays, a rally, a march, a survivor speakout, and more -- never seem to match how quickly the month fades away. Before we know it, we are reviewing the month. During April, the Women’s Rape Crisis Center reached more than 1500 community members at events and through the media including at the University of Vermont’s Dismantling Rape Culture Conference, with the Clothesline Project (at Burlington City Hall, UVM and St. Michael’s College), at the Women’s Rape Crisis Center Capital Campaign kick-off and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, with the Red Flag Display and, of course, at the annual Take Back the Night rally, march and survivor speakout.

The Women's Rape Crisis Center is involved with dozens of events throughout the year. Find out more about some of our larger events by clicking on the links to the left.
