Here are a handful of the hundreds of t-shirts made by survivors
of violence and their loved ones.
The t-shirts are part of the
Clothesline Project, a national outreach and awareness campaign which
displays t-shirts holding
the messages of hurt, healing, and courage
on clothesline to "air the dirty lanudry" of a society which still
silences the voices
of victims and survivors. The Clothesline
Project is a moving display that can be seen at the University of
Vermont, Saint
Micheals College, and several downtown locations
throughout the month of April.
Please note: some of the stories and/or words on these t-shirts are graphic and can be hard to see. If you are about to read some of these survivors' stories and langauge, please pay attention to your own feelings. Seeing these images may be difficult, so take care of yourself. Take a break when you need to and talk to someone about how you feel. We hope that these t-shirts inspire you, help you in your healing process, and empower you to keep on growing and surviving.
